Communists tried to shut down the film industry with strikes, with the goal of gaining control of the film industry. Reagan learned early on that communists are jerks.
Communists didn't want people to work. They only want people to work if communists have control. The goal of communists throughout history has been power.

You must have missed the whole McCarthy era with blacklisting in Hollywood, basically policing someone's thoughts, all because of some Communist paranoia. And let's not forget the unconstitutional forcing of theocracy into society (the pledge, money, courthouses, etc) due to irrational fear of "godlessness".
Almost all Democrat talking points can be destroyed by invoking magnitude. Whatever the sins of McCarthy, the sins of communists are much worse.
The topic is the sins of communists. Mentioning McCarthy is a deflection. Whenever someone is deflecting, chances are he's lost the argument.
McCarthy was decades ago. He's gone. Communists are still here today.
Communists are jerks that care only about their own power, and they're especially jerks because they hurt other people to get power. That is the issue. The fact that communists destroy Republican lives to get power. That is the charge I level against communists. This charge must be answered.
@jaymaron how is it a deflection to point out your narrative is false, and the "Communists" (which let's be real, most of the time it was a false accusation) were thought-policed and had their lives ruined. We still feel the effects today - like the religiosity being injected into public society. Just the other day people went apoplectic because a school student said "one nation under Allah" in the pledge, recommending her diplomas should be stripped from her and she should be forced to serve in the US military to atone for her action. This was based on the narrative that "the pledge says one nation under God, how dare you change it". Yet it was changed to add that phrase due to McCarthyism.
McCarthy may be gone, but the whole "moral panic" still exists. Just look at QAnon - nothing but another McCarthy.

So if we decided to spend a period of time arresting Christians and blackballing them and destroying any attempt at Christianity in America, it'd be fine with you, because the sins would be outweighed?
This is America. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought. It is woefully un-American to police thought, but you seem perfectly fine with it. Sounds like your feelings are hurt, because people are jerks.
Republicans destroy American lives. Name me one actual Communist in power. And yes, an actual Communist, not just who you want to label based on what Fox News or OANN told you.
