Peace time militaries are always full of careerist incompetents. It took years to weed them out in WWII. Some held their positions to the end.

It's not just the military that is being strangled by careerists, Fauci comes to mind. Midwits that are good at networking will rise to the top of any bureaucracy.

I find Rome after the Republic to be a good model for the administrative state. You would expect that professionals administrators would do a better job at running an empire than battlefield commanders but that isn't the experience of Rome. It isn't even a matter of corruptions. To some extent it isn't competence. It's more a matter of respect for institutions and traditions. Corruption is always with us and competence is defined by imagination and vision.

We are in the equivalent position to Rome and Biden is our Nero or Caligula. All our politicians are corrupt putting their personal interests ahead of the state's. Bread and circus is a substitute for policies that maintain Civilization. Our infrastructure is falling apart while politicians, the media, corporations, our generals and bureaucrats grow rich trading with the enemy.

If the Military were to reject and or disobey direct orders from the Executive and or the Legislative leadership we would be in a technical state of a military coup de etat'. The military is prohibited by the US Constitution itself taking action against elected officials.
I can't help but believe that at least some of the men in that photo if not most of them would like nothing more than to take members of the Biden administration along with members of the legislative branch and some others (like Barak Obama) into custody and to initiate a new election and to re-establish some semblance of the Constitutional Republic as it once stood.
But they cannot do that. At least not legally. Furthermore such action might very well spark a hot civil war. At which point our enemies China and Russia and Cuba would likely move against USA...
