Why are so many vaccinated people in hospital?
The sheer numbers of people vaccinated - nearly 95% of those over 60 and 84% of those under 60 - mean that statistically, double-vaccinated people will still be a significant proportion of hospital patients.
But, without the vaccine, those hospital numbers might be even higher.
Last winter, when Covid cases in the community were similarly high but the vaccine programme had only just started, there were four times as many Covid patients in hospitals in Wales.
Vaccines, while helping protect many of us from serious illness, do not stop us catching Covid.
Many will get mild symptoms but for those in vulnerable groups, who may have other conditions or diseases, catching Covid could still lead to a complication.
Given the huge numbers of vaccinated people, especially among the older and vulnerable groups, it means statistically they will still appear in hospital figures.

Exactly...the jabs don't work. Fully recovered people are the most immune people on the planet.
The Pfizer president (Boura) announced at a recent press conference that he expects to end the pandemic next year. He also announced, "annual vaccinations" (can't say that dreaded BOOSTER word) will be coming.
Jabs are a failure so let's all blame the unvaxxed!
@Sensrhim4hizvewz the vaccines do work. You just don't understand the science behind them or the purpose. No vaccine is 100% effective. You are less likely to catch the virus if you are vaccinated, and way less likely to have serious issues from the virus if you are vaccinated. That doesn't mean it is full-proof. The point is to get the vaccinated rate high enough to reach herd immunity, preventing the virus from spreading and mutating more, and letting it disappear. Think polio or smallpox.
The unvaccinated are literally to blame, or at least the ones who still want to go around and cough on people and refuse to wear masks and basically give the middle finger to trying to end the pandemic. If people actually did lock down and follow guidelines, and didn't listen to the former president and act like it would magically go away, we might have gotten rid of this and been back to normal sometime in 2020. But because people are too stubborn and selfish and didn't want a minor inconvenience, they allowed the virus to keep spreading and mutating, and we are in the situation we are in now. This is becoming endemic now, and will most likely be like the flu - with so many variants mutating every year that it will never go away, and they will need a new covid shot every year to keep up.
So yes, the unvaxxed are to blame, 100%.
This is bullshit. Prior to THIS not-vaccine, the very definition of vaccine was prevents infection even if colonized.
My friend, you are misinformed! Studies out of Israel suggest you are 89% likely to contact covid from a vaccinated person and only 29% likely to get it from an unvaxxed. Look at the studies coming of Iceland, Israel and now Brazil. Look at the older studies from India.
Would you care to explain how an unvaxxed person who goes around coughing on people (I have never seen such a person) can infect a VAXXED person???
Read some more. Do more research and get off Fauci's website. Infected "vaccinated" have the same viral load as an infected unvaxxed. A year ago there was no vaxxed vs unvaxxed and there was 1/5 the cases! Explain to me how a vaxxed is endangered from the unvaxxed! It's the other way around!
