When Obama returned Iran's frozen money as part of the Iran deal, conservatives were outraged, claiming that it was American money. Using that logic, are Russia's frozen assets ours now, for good?

That is what economic warfare means.
Just Iike Russia can give Karelia back to Finland one day in a peace agreement… however till then belongs to Russia.
So can the US return Iranian or Russian assets taken during economic warfare when it suits them… however until then it belongs to the US.

Those are two seperate issues.
However first off I am not qualified to give a proper answer. Just my opinion based on my limited understanding.
I am just pointing out that property taken by war becomes the victors.
So in this economic war with Russia the seized assets may become US property for good. So the “conservatives” are right.
However, the president may return that property as part of a peace deal. Here the “conservatives” may be wrong.
@Hanno My question was framed around the status of the assets after being returned. Not sure how that makes the conservatives right.
