It has been much easier (totally peaceful) than they might have imagined it would be from its inception.
Do you know how someone might talk a good ass whoop'n and when it comes to the actual face off - the moment that person finds himself standing in a parking lot or a boxing ring...wherever...he cowers - walks or runs away...?
Well folks - that's us! Me and you. We are - or have been - that proverbial guy who talks a good fight knowing that we aren't going to actually do a goddam thing until or unless we find ourselves cornered. Even then many people will NOT fight. They will cower in trembling fear.
With a nod to Dylan Thomas - they - WILL - "go gentle into that good night"
Maybe we (I include myself) have already done so and we intentionally, sub-consciously fail to acknowledge the unflattering actuality of our own cowardice.
Are we really being cowards or are we just too comfortable and too fat in our comfortable lifestyle. Probably equal parts of both is the objective truth of it.

@Garsco You say it perfectly - I have asked all of those same questions myself.
I suppose the accusing tone of my comment is a bit over the top. I could be more forgiving of myself and everyone else.
I often wonder why is it that "the left" is - or can be thought of as the "activist" party. They loudly and violently "demonstrate" often.
We on the "Right" rarely "demonstrate" - and when we demonstrate we do it meekly, weakly, almost apologetically...oh and we clean up as we go. Afterwards nobody would even know we were there! LOL Right?
If we were a sports team of some sort we would NEVER taste victory because it is impossible to win when you are in a defensive posture for more than 90 percent of the game clock.
There is merit to the observation that we (the Right) are really too busy being productive; busy with our careers and jobs to participate in wild and wooly demonstrations. We have much to lose and little or nothing to gain - save for the preservation of our freedom in that kind of activity.
Truthfully, the vast majority of those who participate in the "Leftist movement" have as much to lose as we. But they are stubbornly fixated on establishing their delusional vision of creating an "equitable" almost utopian global culture of mankind.
They militate for something that can never materialize. But we will never get them to listen much less to agree that their militancy is wasted time and energy.
So my comment above can be chalked up to the rantings of a frustrated old Boomer...venting - invective pointed at self and others perceived to be like minded.
So I leave you with wishes for good health and peaceful existence.

That senile old influence peddler has no idea what he is doing. He was installed not elected. So the question is when will the people that pull the strings take the boot off of the working class. I suspect not until they are completely removed from power and financially drained. That will take a while.

We are of very similar minds. My take is that we're in the realm of inevitabilities. The electorate, a lot of them anyway, don't have a deep political orientation. What they have is a world of hurt. The thing that gets dems elected is the thing that will get them bounced---if the polls are monitored.
People vote their pleasure/ pain.
