When I was a kid, I was groomed. Teachers groomed me with science. They blinded me with science. They promised that if you study science that it brings glory. They were right.
The teachers groomed well. They turned minds full of mush into hard science brains.
It's not about grooming. Kids should be groomed. What matters is grooming them with the right thing. Grooming kids with objective science is good. Grooming them with unobjective leftism is bad.

My father “groomed” me with hard physical labour as a kid.
And solid physical “correction” when he felt I needed it.
He also groomed me with love in his way and attention I appreciated.
I do the same… I make my children work.
I may be less in the physical “corrections” but I still require discipline and personal responsibility.
I hope that my children appreciated the love and attention I gave them.
I believe it is important for them and I believe I have seen the fruits of that.
And yes it is grooming… or teaching and mentoring.
Whatever you want to call it.

"Groomed to be the next king" used to be common in literature.
You're right, grooming is not a bad word. Media just kept on using it to describe the seduction of minors.
