At that time I found Transferwise which permits quick funds transfer between individuals in most countries and is cheaper than banking conversion fees. I've used them for years now. Recently they changed their name to "Wise". Still the same fast cheap service. Only hitch is parties on both sides of a transaction need to set up an account. I've always been very impressed with them. They were initially in business for "gig" payment but now serve individuals and companies throughout much of the world. [wise.com]

Jeremy is on point yet again on this one. We need distributed banking the way we had it in the 18th and 19th centuries. Yes, it did take longer to complete a transaction. But the people who handled your money were your neighbors who ate lunch in the same diner or pub. Now you have a system in which people on the other side of the world are telling you what you can spend your money on and when. They have no care about you nor do they even know who you are. They hate you anyway.
