TGNB is the number of people identifying as transgender, .39 to 2.7%. This indicates a population in the United States at between 1,287,000 and 8,910,000.
Because transsex generally plan on surgery and transgender does not, the surgical number might be more representative of the transsex community size. Note that in the literature it is generally accepted that top surgery and hysterectomy surgery are considered in the Gender Confirmation Surgery totals. I only consider bottom surgery as SRS/GCS. Still, 25% of the above range would be 321,750-2,228,000.
My own argument is that for each one of us that has SRS, that there are two in transition, and for each one in transition, there are two that seek to do so. Using the surgical number, it puts the community size between 2,252,00 and 8,900,000. Pretty close to the Demographic study.
The estimates I provided were .25% to .40%, putting the US population between 825,000 and 1,320,000. Slightly smaller but probably closer to the historical averages. Worldwide our community would be 20 to 32 million.

Whatever the prevalence, it is VERY small vs the population as a whole. While 1 in 33 children are born with a birth defect, there is one other stat:

X and Y chromosomal aneuploidies (the presence of an abnormal number of sex chromosome) are among the most common human whole-chromosomal copy number variations, with an estimated incidence in the general population between 1 in 400 to 1 in 1,000 [1,2–4] for each of the sex Chromosome syndromes: [journals.plos.org]

What and how a birth defect occurs is often the work of intense research. We don't know how or why we perceive gender as a function of the brain structures. Only that there is SOMETHING going on in the transsexual brain STRUCTURE that is not consistent with biological (chromosomal) sex. You can deny that the issue exists - that is your right. Your assertion that it is impossible is the delusion.
