Well, yes it was. But the truth and liberals are only distantly acquainted, as they only see it as optional.
He said something was a hoax involving the Democrats warning that coronavirus might cause worse problems for our health care system than the flu. Still not 100% sure what he was on about, maybe you should ask Mr. Coffey! [slug.com]

Come come Ricky, you directly stated Trump called the disease a hoax.
He said the Democrat claims that he is responsible is a hoax.
He never said the disease is a hoax.
And what is more, if you go and read what Bob Coffee actually said was that the panic spread by the media is a hoax.
I do not always agree with Bob Coffee, but he never said the actual disease is a hoax, but the media’s response was.
That is how I understood Bob Coffee. He may correct me if I am wrong.

@Hanno He's claiming that the disease is not as much of a threat as it has been made out to be and that the Democrats are at fault for that. That's exactly the point Trump made. He called the Democrats' concerns about its spread and the administration's response a "new hoax" to undermine him and likened it to the flu, claiming that it was under control and pretty much over with. More recently, he has gotten serious about it.
Trump: "Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus. They’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ They go, ‘Oh, not good, not good.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa, they can’t even count. Trump's words comparing it to the flu: "So a number that nobody heard of that I heard of recently and I was shocked to hear it, 35,000 people on average die each year from the flu. It could go to 100,000, it could be 27,000, they say usually a minimum of 27, it goes up to 100,000 people a year who die, and so far we have lost nobody to coronavirus in the United States. Nobody. And it doesn’t mean we won’t, and we are totally prepared, it doesn’t mean we won’t. But think of it. You hear 35 and 40,000 people, and we’ve lost nobody, and you wonder, the press is in hysteria mode."

What exactly did Trump say that is not true... and I am referring here to the stuff you correctly quoted.
I read it all and he is right. His numbers are correct and still are correct at this point in time . He agrees that it could and probably would get worse... however the media and the democrats have tried to create a panic that does more damage to our lives than the disease itself.
The panic from this virus is causing a depression that will take at least 10 if not 20 years to recover from.
No one is saying the disease is not real and we should not stop it... but the fear mongering and blaming Trump is silly.
So I do not get the point of your post.

Trump did not say the disease is a hoax, but the democrat blaming him was... so at least we are making progress.
The President has direct authority over foreign policy and originally the military. Other than that the President is more of a cheerleader. Of course one has to have some familiarity with the Constitution to be aware of that. So it is actually his job to be as positive as he can in the face of adversity. His critics would like him to wring his hands and say we're all going to die. He did not and in their minds that makes him a liar. They should be ashamed of themselves for childish cheap shotting.

her positiveness and raising everyone’s moral was praised by everyone.
Now Trump does the same and he is the devil.
@Hanno Anyone who bothers to read the Koran would not make that mistake. She and NZ are going to find out the hard way, as more than 100 million human souls who have refused to submit (the meaning of the word Islam) learned and paid with their lives.
And as our moral leader, Trump is expected to try to limit panic and can not afford to be negative.
The Left is threatened by all Constitution loving people and will kill us just as dead as Islam if they think they can get away with it.
