Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I think my issue is that when it's convenient, platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Google will talk about freedom of speech but when it's suitable for them to claim it doesn't tolerate certain speech and they falter under the mildest amount of pressure from the vocal extreme minority. Which one is it? Like others have pointed out, they pretend to be a town hall while acting as a publisher.
I think also people forget that when you start censoring people and it's against someone that you don't like now, that same power will happen against someone that you like. "First they came for them, then they came for us"

I'm always sort of on the fence about stuff like this. For one thing, they are private companies that can do what they want. On the other hand, their prevalence and near monopoly status makes things difficult. At the very least, they should be held to their own standards and stop changing the ToS just because they think someone is lying. There's plenty of fake information that at the time at least was thought to be true and I doubt they will go back and correct anything. What I would prefer is Trump to promote alternative versions of social media sites that hold real American values rather than taking notes from Elizabeth Warren. It's a tricky situation and I don't like either outcome.
Regardless of all of that... they can take their censorship and shove it.

They are private companies that claim the protection from lawsuits afforded to free platforms, such as phone companies, while acting as publishers, such as newspapers, that can be sued for editorial decisions! If they choose to act as publishers by controlling discourse, they should be open to legal action for their choices! Social media has had the best of both worlds long enough!
