Hanno replies on Feb 29, 2020:
Good point... what is truth? What does it mean to be free? Equal rights or equal outcomes? What does the word justice even mean? Of course, that is why you need to listen very carefully what Jordan Peterson says and consider the examples he uses. Then your question is easily answered. It is only when you never read or considered his writings in detail that you ask those questions.

@WilyRickWiles It does not work in Belgium. Their free healthcare is killing the economy and they have very high taxes already. It is because there is no limitations on health care. How you pay for it is not a distraction. IN Engineering we say “the devil is in the detail”. In NZ we also have free health care but it is very limited. It works because it is so limited. You need to be very specific what free health care means and how you are going to fund it. It is more than healthcare. It is the basic question of what is the minimum quality of life everyone should have... and then how are you going to tax to pay for it. It necessarily means that the hard working and productive gets less than they give and the lazy unproductive gets more than what they give.

@WilyRickWiles My apologies, I should have been more clear. Nobody in a country we all would want to live in is proposing Fascism. We all agree (OK, I agree at least) that what is happening in some of the countries you mention is not what we want. Again, this fascism is easily identified for what it is. If a new and popular political party in the USA or UK or NZ etc etc start saying let’s give fascism another go, we would all be up in arms with you stopping it. What we (or rather what I want) is a strong capitalist economy supporting social support systems especially regarding education and a realistic level of public health. Soliciasm or communism could probably work well for everyone, only if everybody was on the same page. Until that miracle happens, I'm still voting for President Trump again.
Hanno replies on Feb 8, 2020:
@Biosphere Socialism only works when there is significant equality in productivity and income and a culture of personal responsibility where being lazy or greedy is culturally unacceptable. Else the lazy and stupid just live of the labours of the hard working. Very soon everybody is lazy and no one is left to do the work and you need to step up to communism to keep things going. Once you have significant equality in productivity and a culture of personal responsibility, you do not need socialism since everybody can take care of themselves and the market takes care of everything else. Finland would be a good example, it would work great whether you have the current capitalist system or a socialist system. But you need the Finnish culture and everything that goes with that. So socialism would work in Finland, but they do not need it. What they have is a strong capitalist economy with heavy taxation that support generous social benefits that everybody almost equally contribute to and benefit from over a persons lifetime. And it works very well.

@EAL_Flt1979 Hehe... read the posts again mate. You are the one who made all kinds of assumptions about me... I was just being sarcastic in response to your judgemental attitude. The issue here is also my question: what have you done other than braying on about an issue which is very well known and has perplexed society for Millenia. Typically, you move the responsibility to others, government, the rich, the hardworking... and by doing that you do nothing to deal with the actual problem why these people exist in the first place. I have been involved in many schemes in my life... from feeding the poor to aids awareness to adult education. And I can tell you that they were all a waste of time unless you change the minds of the people on the street and the real reason they are there. If you do not address these core issues you are just another big mouth who does nothing. This I have done and have helped a small number of people... however they wanted to be helped and once the core problem is arrested they were no longer in the gutter. That is very difficult to achieve and I have failed more times and that is just me doing my little bit. Talk to the people who does this for a living. Uphill battle with very few victories. And yes, I know what I am talking about and that does not make me a hypocrite, but someone who knows what it takes to change it. What have you done... actually that matters?

Hanno replies on Feb 3, 2020:
@WilyRickWiles Ok. Socialist can advocate for it. But it is a bit like a cattle farmer advocating a vegetarian diet. Can you have universal healthcare in the long term without Capitalism to pay for it? Where has this succeeded? What I am trying to say it is great pushing good social services. However, if you have no economy to pay for it, how will it succeed? I think that is the crux of my issue with democratic socialists. You want the good stuff social services provide, however you provide no reasonable model of how to pay for it. You recently stated that a few hundred billion will not harm the US economy. My question is what health care does a few hundred billion buy you. From my experience, minimum healthcare (to a standard that matters), is about $500 per month per person. (This is based on good private health care in medium economy country. In Belgium it is significantly higher.) that is $6 000 per annum and for the US $2 000 billion. Your few hundred billion will not cut it. Not even the extra $1 trillion your article advocates. Now I read Sanders arguments... even if you save the money he thinks he will, the issue is you still have to pay for it and it is currently paid for by the capitalist economy. The only reasonable way of achieving the social services you want is through capitalism. So for socialists to campaign for these services is a bit like a cattle farmer campaigning for a vegetarian lifestyle.

@WilyRickWiles And when you spent that few hundred billion and you then realise that you need a few hundred billion more, and then you spend that... by then your population is used to free money and then you need some more... @WilyRickWiles The difference is that you now have elected officials who are generally popularity contestants and bull shitters make decisions about what businesses I can operate and how I operate it. @WilyRickWiles Have to disagree with you on that one. Democratic Socialists goal is a socialist state where the society decide what the economic output of the county should be and not the individual through the market. In practice of course “society” is replaced very quickly by the “government” hence socialist counties very quickly become communist countries. Democratic socialists accept that this goal needs to be obtained through some kind of democratic process and not by revolution and civil war. Social democrats on the other hand still want the individual through the market to decide what the country needs to produce, thus a capitalist state. They also want a strong social support system, however the goal is not a socialist state. Nordic countries best examples here however most of Western Europe falls in that category. So which one of the two are you?

@WilyRickWiles “Almost” the important word in my post. The issue the left had is that made so many allegations against him that the few ones that may be real just get drowned in the fake ones. Obstructing witness testimony he may have done. Has this in any way stop the truth from coming out? Were Schiff et all at any time limited to call any one they wanted? The Mueller convictions were not fraudulent, however they do not mean much once challenged by counter questions. Mueller’s investigation’s downfall is he started with bias... and hence whatever “convictions” he found was seen as biased. The court documents released so far are poor and not conclusive. If they were, there would not be the impeachment circus but an actual trial going on. All above is the personal views of a non-American only interested how this affects my country.

You also need to be honest and accept that almost all the allegations made against Trump turned out to be nothing more than hearsay and wishful thinking.

You started that there were no positive scientific developments and then tried to make it about space research only. You repeated my words in a way that suggest you did not understand at all. You group natural phenomena and made made development together. For example:: chemical byproducts of what we eat. That has nothing to do with artificial fertilisers or or anything man made. It is the natural byproducts all animals create when they process food into energy and useful proteins and fats. These chemical product are removed by ensymes however they still cause damage and caused cancer. This occurs in all animals since long before humans evolved. UV radiation comes from the sun... it causes suntan and skin cancer. Radiation therapy is a human made treatment, developed by science. We stop skin cancer with suntan lotion.... science gave us that. The need for artificial fertilisers are interesting but long one as the development of that dates back from 1840. However I have the feeling I will waste my time telling that to you.
