Could this be a part of the problems with responding to post and comments??
Are WE being invaded???

Overwhelmed? By what 5, 10 new groups that you don't have to join?
I've created 4 groups - one is growing nicely, another fine given the small population likely to be interested. The other two are relatively new. That is over the last 8 months I've been here.
If a group interests me, I join. Otherwise I ignore them. Of you are feeling overwhelmed or invaded, maybe you need to seek less stimulation....

I don't know, I don't even see new posts to my own group half the time. I general look at trending which often does not show me new groups.
You can easily tell if there is a coordinated effort to influence a website by traffic. Here you can sort by number of comments and I see no such effort.
