Thus far no treatment proposals have been very seriously considered. Almost as though some interest in widespread implementation of new recurring vaccinations exceeds any interest in allowing an end to the emergency.

No, I'm saying rules were waived to approve for emergency use a collection of vaccines, none of which are fully evaluated according to standard practices.

Meanwhile, no treatments that have been tried in the field and offered up for further trials and potential approval have been seriously publicly considered.

@govols except vaccines using mRNA have been in development since the 90s. The long-term affects of the COVID vaccines haven't been fully seen yet, but we already know it helps slow the spread of the virus, and if you happen to still catch it, it dramatically reduces the affects. Sounds like a good thing a country would want tourists / immigrants to have to keep their country safe, no? Much like Trumps "China ban"?

Just a new extension. As happens with every encroachment of government upon people's lives.

I remember when the polio vaccine came out. Everyone wanted that one because polio was debilitating. Smallpox killed about half, I'm guessing, the people it infected. Valuable vaccines where the risks were minimal in comparison to the disease are not shied away from. Vaccines for the flu or covid should go to targetted vulnerable demographics, the elderly and the those otherwise compromised - facts that we have learned about it through experience, no thanks to the CCP. The risks of the covid vaccine for healthy people are almost as great as the disease. Plus the fact we don't know of any long-term effects.

An added factor in the covid vaccine is that it is not a vaccine in the traditional sense of the word. It should be still in the experimental stage. The medical research field said at the beginning that delivering a vaccine within a year was impossible. Then proved themselves wrong. Granted a lot of regulatory red tape was bypassed. Just goes to show that government puts alot of unnecessary stops on research that are considered necessary for public safety. Government gets to play it both ways, I guess.

Was Trump right in fast--forwarding a "vaccine". In some respects I think so but in others I don't. If covid killed half the people it infected I don't think you would see any resistance to a vaccine for it and an experimental one may prove better than none. In this case, with what we know about covid now, the experiment is unwarranted, in my view. The medical establishment should instead be encouraging people to keep their immune system healthy, and offering the "vaccine" only to those who are compromised.

@CelticRing You're right there. I understand the Holocaust was the "final solution" because Hitler's previous attempts to deal with the "problem" of the Jews didn't work well enough for his liking.

In the end, the Holocaust didn't either, thank God (I mean that sincerely and literally, by the way). Six million Jewish deaths was terrible enough without completely wiping out the whole race.

Designating the Jews as a dangerous "other" is what the Nazis did with the gold stars. There is a danger that these logos, passports, etc. would also serve the purpose of distinguishing a supposedly dangerous other. Though I empathize with Ben for the traumas historically inflicted on his people, I agree with Marjorie that the parallels are strong.
