What's True:
The bill could greatly expand the obligation on healthcare providers to file fetal death certificates. In order to fully discharge that legal obligation, healthcare providers would, in many cases, have to consult with patients about the details of the fetal death, even if the patients would strongly prefer not to discuss fetal death certificates and similar considerations. Thus, the bill was likely to multiply the trauma suffered by patients who undergo an abortion or miscarriage in Pennsylvania.
What's False:
However, Pennsylvania law does not require patients themselves to register fetal deaths, or file, obtain or pay for a fetal death certificate, and it does not fine them for having a miscarriage. The bill would not introduce such legal requirements.
This is another classic example of why I don't trust either political extreme, and the left have their share of conspiracy theories just like the right does. Lastly, I am personally opposed to House Bill 118 of 2021, as Pennsylvania already has enough restrictions on abortions in place and said restrictions have done little to curb abortion procedures, so more of the same would be pointless.

So I'm struggling a little with this person's characterization for two reasons:
One, the medical professional is the one who fills out the death certificate, so I'm not clear where the whole "force [the woman] to fill out this form" comes from.
Two, having read HB118, I did not see anything to suggest that the legislature voted to "fine women who miscarry." The only costs I even see mentioned are if the woman chooses to have the remains disposed of in a manner that goes beyond "usual and customary."
So what am I missing here?

The bill requires all fetal deaths to have a death certificate, including miscarriages. It also charges the woman $20 to pay for this certificate. So it fines women $20 for having a miscarriage.
That's a bit of a reach, don't you think? By that argument, you may as well say that requiring the woman to pay for any part of the medical procedure is "fining" her.
Van you point to that 20 dollar language, and it being universal in apllcation?
Perhaps. But I have no interest in attacking the man, only debating the arguments.
We SHOULD want @JacksonNought to challenge our beliefs, otherwise this place just becomes another echo chamber. I may not like his message and I may occasionally frown at his tactics, but I appreciate what he does.
I have suspicions somebody is lying by ommission.
