I don't know any for sure. I'll guess James Buchanan and perhaps Truman. I think Hoover did win renomination but lost the election horribly to FDR. Ahh....I think John Adams lost renomination to Jefferson in a bitter contest. What's that now....-3?

Buchanan campaigned with the pledge to serve 1 term, and he honored his pledge. Which other presidents made this pledge and honored it?
Upon retiring from the presidency, Buchanan said to his successor: "If you are as happy in entering the White House as I shall feel on returning to Wheatland [his home], you are a happy man.
Adams was the Federalist party and Jefferson was the Democratic Republican party.

Carter was renominated, and it was Reagan vs. Carter.
Ted Kennedy was a jerk and tried to poach the nomination. Kennedy failed.
Reagan was host of GM Theatre, and he brought it big success, as big as Trump's success with Apprentice. Ted Kennedy maneuvered to have Reagan fired. Kennedy is a jerk. Reagan got him back, by becoming an epic Republican president. Ted Kennedy never got close to the presidency.
Jack Kennedy was virtuous. He was on course to gain the nomination when he was assassinated.
Presidents like Jefferson are not on the list. Jefferson didn't seek renomination in 1808. He retired gracefully, and with high popularity.
