Obviously its politics and therefore inconsistent. I assume the baking cake reference is when a Christian baker refused to bake a cake for gay couple. It should be his choice to do so, and its easier to make the argument that gay marriage should not be allowed, because of that case, because it does not stop at "they love each other" its the backdoor legal and politically to expand "rights" of one identity group and by default constrict the rights of another group.
The wearing masks thing is tricky. There is no real consensus among the various political officials, individuals in public and medial advisors as importance of wearing masks. So like anything these days it has been politicized and weaponized, much like baking a cake. Personally, I think the business has that right, to demand its customers to wear masks and customers have the right to not shop there if they so choose. When masks are mandates by the government than things become trickier. As I’ve said it’s the problem of who to trust.
If it can be proven that wearing masks saves lives than it would be morally irresponsible of anyone not to wear a mask. But so far there is a problem of consensus how effective is to wear masks in order to prevent spreading of virus. Even if you believe medical advisors., perhaps you don’t believe politicians and how they are leveraging medical advisers.

The answer is that business owners have free agency to make decisions about how to run their businesses.
Wear masks or not.
Make an artistic confection about a same-sex marriage or not.
It's their choice.

the cake thing is tricky. scotus decided that the cake bakers could be expected to SELL things to anyone, but not necessarily to MAKE things tailored in ways that coerced speech.
One is based on scientific evidence, the other is based on religion and ideology.

Currently rocking a global fatality rate of .008% after three months. I haven't seen much scientific evidence supporting why crashing the economy, killing thousands of businesses, interrupting every aspect of normal daily life, and continuing to make the population slowly go crazy through arbitrary and divisive mandates is in anyway more healthy for the country than doing nothing about this "threat" .
Both curtail basic freedom of choice. Is your position that religious based choice is invalid? Try demanding a batch of pork chops from a Halal butcher.
I might point out that the “science” behind the mask mandates veers much closer to faith-based choice than anything resembling settled fact.

@Edgework If it were up to me I wouldn't have any halal butchers because I have no desire to accommodate Muslims in this country. But I digress. Even though I personally think the virus is bullshit (and Islam is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution) it doesn't matter. Ultimately I support the right of a business to require masks if you want to shop there, or vice versa (my local gun store will not allow you to enter with a mask.)
