The following are from a site PubChem they show the composition of both Thimerosal and Merbromin (mercurochrome) they both contain the same HgNa salt, mercurochrome is in a benzene solution and Thimerosal in a alcohol solution. thimerosal is used in the flue vaccines and a few others merbromin was removed from the market because of concerns that the mercury in it would absorb into skin tissues, thimerosal is know injected into you with every flue vaccine.

Yeah... arsenic is both a lethal poison and crucial for life... You miss the point about concentration and how our bodies deal with that.
Although mercury has no positive role in biochemistry we know of, it exist in natural foods and water and our bodies are very good with dealing with tiny amounts of it.
The amounts of mercury in mercurochrome and vaccines and the amounts we apply is very different.
The one being a concern and the other not so much.

@KeVince yes, exactly my point. In right concentration beneficial (all fat soluble vitamins and almost all essential metals) or at least harmless (mercury etc).
It is the amounts and our bodies ability to deal with that poison that matters. You appear to understand this.
So why are you on about the minuscule amount of mercury in vaccines when the good vaccines does outweighs the bad they do by orders of magnitude?
I get flu vaccines every year. They haven't adversely affect my health. BTW, the second head I grew agrees with this statement

This more than ever points out the hypocrisy of the FDA mercurochrome predated the FDA and was not patented, thimerosal was developed to replace it and was patented. the alcohol base was so it wouldn't absorb into the skin, but now it's OK to inject it into your body. ??????

I think folks who do not have credentials in chemistry, pharmacology, pharma-cokinetics, biochemistry, medicine, anatomy...should probably refrain throwing out their totally unqualified and unfounded opinions about "big pharma"
I am none of those things myself but I do have some insight into the business of pharmaceutical research. I worked for a number of years as a facilities manager for a pharma research company (I will not name them) and I saw first hand the processes they go through before ANY "drug" or "remedy" or "medication" can be brought to market. Without going into any great detail I will sum up in saying that the big problem with medicine today is NOT "big bad pharma" . if you want to look for someone to blame for your perceived grievances (whether real or imagined) you should maybe look in the direction of "Big Insurance" and "BIG GOVERNEMENT".
It ain't the pharmaceutical companies folks and it ain't the doctors or the hospitals or the nurses - those people are among the utmost caring, professional, ethical, moral human beings ever. Same for the good people who work in the field of pharmaceutical research and development and manufacturing.
