@HistoryCorner I did as well. Not sure the percentage but certainly far less nutritious than previously available to us. The sterilization and homogenization of milk also drastically reduced its nutritional value.

Canada does not have that "visit" ban. I spent several weeks in Cuba about 15 years ago. I did not stay at a resort but rather spent time in Bayamo (city in central eastern Cuba) and got to live with Cubans and see their lifestyle first hand. These are wonderful, optimistic people with a level of enviable ingenuity. Evident though were two elements. On every corner and throughout this town and several others that I visited were the "watchers" keeping track of what people were doing and saying. One also had to be very aware that neighbors and even family members were quite willing to rat out their neighbors for improper activities or thought expressions. I was quite surprised as well to learn that Masonry was alive and well there with plumb jobs always guaranteed to its members. Daily life for all but senior government personnel was a constant struggle and far more basic than the poorest of the poor in Canada and the US. Cuba is actually the very best (the jewel) of the Caribbean islands in terms of its natural amenities. The island has six distinctly separate ecosystems, and boasts the highest per capita university educated population in the West. And their universities are both tough and high quality. Their road systems are extremely well maintained and the cities are immaculate. Littering just doesn't happen.
