Organ Harvesting in China from Live Victims That was an excellent report, Mr Sarin.
GaryWitt comments on Jan 5, 2020:
The current problem is not so much that China will export its surveillance technology but that China is importing that technology from the US. Apple, Google, and others are complicit. But you are absolutely correct that the danger is there; and it is spelled “Huawei.”
Could it happen?

The map is not the territory. Alfred Korzybski
GaryWitt comments on Aug 16, 2021:
Jordan Peterson gives a nice elaboration on this. He says (and of course I’m paraphrasing) we all have our maps of reality that we carry around and to the extent they are accurate we are able to navigate within reality. If our map proves to be inaccurate in any way we may experience confusion, frustration, anger, or any other of a host of negative emotions. The key then is to revise and correct your map, to bring it more in line with reality.

One thing missing here is the damage done by Woodrow Wilson. Extreme and pervasive. He epitomized the racist and socialist bent of the Democratic Party at the turn of the 20th century. I share your respect for Everett Dirksen. My first visit to Phoenix was in the mid-70s. Downtown was in decline but Goldwater’s remained a beacon.

Not sure of the context, but if you are the chairman of a business organization and you are reviewing questionnaire responses, you should probably remember two things: first, I presume it was you or someone working for you who created and sent out the questionnaires and second, you probably wouldn’t be where you are without diplomacy, decisiveness, and an understanding that people have different skills.

If we separate the people in the towers from the first responders trying to save them, then good question. Perhaps because a democratic majority believes (rightly or wrongly) that voluntarism will not address their plight in an acceptable manner. Perhaps because that majority just believes it is the right thing to do. But that doesn’t really answer your question, does it? Maybe your question is better stated as, “At what point does a democratic majority begin to infringe on my rights as an individual?” Now that’s a tough one.

WTF! Boston Children's Hospital EXPOSED! [youtube.com]
GaryWitt comments on Aug 15, 2022:
I almost hate to say this, but the calm newspeak of the hospital-sponsored video cannot be adequately countered by the crazed anger of the guy with the broken clock. Yes, it makes some people crazy to think that this kind of butchery is occurring. But the nutcase here is the hospital, and that level of insanity must be addressed with facts, logic, and a proper moral compass. Not by some ranting weirdo. Gender affirmation is a dangerous and expensive pseudo-treatment for a condition that is ill-defined (on purpose), often impermanent, and frequently manifesting preferences that are well within a normal range. It’s also a misnomer because instead of affirming one’s gender, the “treatment” disaffirms it in order to “change” it. The doctors who peddle these surgeries are charlatans and quacks who should have their medical licenses revoked. They are performing surgery based on an ideology, not on science or their patients’ genuine needs.

What are your guys thought on State currencies rather then a inflated federal currency?
GaryWitt comments on Jul 11, 2019:
The establishment of bitcoin (and soon libra) shows that the concept of currency is not limited to either the gold or silver standard, or “legal tender.” If people trust it and it is convenient for them to use then it will gain popularity. The minute people do not trust it, because of inflation or some other factor, it will be abandoned, and those who invested in it will lose whatever they put in. Do we outlaw bitcoin or libra because they are potentially volatile? I would hope not (much as I dislike and distrust The Zuck),

Interpretations of Sharia— Does It Matter? - YouTube
GaryWitt comments on Sep 23, 2019:
In the US we try to separate religious beliefs, which are protected by the First Amendment, from some religious practices, such as polygamy, which are not. I presume wife beating and FGM fall into this latter category. But as Dr. Warner has said, there are some Sharia apologists who will try to blur the line between faith and practice. One tactic I’ve seen in this regard is to try to characterize Sharia as an “alternative” rule of law to which people should have a right to subscribe voluntarily. Now, certainly one can voluntarily agree in advance to, say, arbitrate a contract dispute. But I’m not sure how one can voluntarily agree to being beaten or maimed. Sharia’s treatment of women is particularly primitive. Should any civilized society allow such treatment? I would have difficulty continuing to call such a society civilized. Perhaps another way to phrase it would be, do we require a Christian baker to bake an LGBTQ cake, while we allow a Muslim husband to beat his wife and mutilate his child?

GaryWitt comments on Feb 17, 2020:
I’ll interpret this as asking for books to celebrate rather than needing to celebrate the fact that you’ve finished a particular book. Atlas Shrugged for sure, although Fountainhead is probably a better novel. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Pirsig. Zen and the Psychology of Transformation by Benoit. Bonfire of the Vanities by Wolfe. The State by de Jasay. The World According to Garp by Irving. And almost anything by Tom McGuane.

The WSJ also reported that the rioting in Kenosha had cost the community “tens of millions of dollars.” The same article asserted that the BLM demonstrations are not “inherently” violent.
