ON PATRIOTISM
In Psalm 82 we read of YHWH giving the "small G elohims" which He had assigned as watchers over the nations after the Babel debacle, a dressing down for not doing the right thing.
Fast forward to the Messiah's mission to give His Life as a ransom for all of us - all of those who would believe and follow Him - disanulled these "small G elohims' " assignments, which these beings apparently refuse to relinquish. Thus was born the current spiritual warfare that we are told in the bible that we are in right now. We still have nations, and it is right that we should be patriotic. But when the Messiah returns as King of Kings, we should be ready to turn monarchists.
Psalms 82:8
"Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations."
Inherit from who? From those whom He had assigned them to. The Lord, talking to His Jewish followers in John 10:16 about His sheep "which are not of this fold" which will one day be joining His Jewish flock. We are these sheep, and we wouldn't want to be hanging on to our national identities when this day comes. Let us make every effort that our faith is "text driven" and not tradition or Denomination driven.

"And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in Me".
