CALVINISM" It's Not About "FREE WILL." (1:33:50)
I am a firm believer in the axiom that the simplest explanation tends to be the right one. For example, we read the earlier church fathers who preceded Augustin defending free will and God not being the author of evil. Now why would they do that? The simplest explanation would be that the Church was under attack by "grievous wolves" as warned by Paul in Acts 20:29, teaching subtle heresies, in this case the opposite of what the earlier church fathers were writing about.
And here is the pattern that we see today:
"Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." ~Acts 20:30
From within the congregation, they shall not preach the gospel to the lost, but instead shall teach heretical distinctives to the flock, incorporating these heretical distinctives into Christian theology. Prior to Augustin, total depravity and inability to believe the gospel was not taught. This all changed with Augustin.
