Prophecy soon to be fulfilled! (8:12)
I am persuaded that Michael Pearl has a big chunk of the story right. But what many prophecy teachers seem to miss is Obadiah. The Obadiah prophesy ends with Israel "possessing their (Edom's) possessions." This includes Teman (Yemen), Zarephath (South of Zidon, which is in Lebanon), Sepharad (some say ancient Sardis, some even say Spain, but not definite), Samaria ("Pelestinian" land), and Gilead (East of the Jordan river - Jordan). Hopefully this will cause the preterist to think "has this happened yet?" It definitely has not. Thus it is a prophesy to a yet future event. Video worth the time.

Today's Israeli's are genetically related to the Khazarians. The Khazar Kingdom converted to Judaism in the 8th Century A.D. and adopted the title "Jew." They are "Jews" by religion but not Israelites by blood. I liken them to the "Jews" of Revelation 2:9 and 3:9.

Scripture naver says the church replaces Israel. That view contradicts what scripture says and is a false teaching. "Spiritual Istael" and "Israel of God" both refer to believing Israel. Zach 13:8-9 tells us they will be culled of unbelievers one day, after which the entire nation will be saved (Rom 11:26).
As for Rev 2:9 and 3:9, Paul explains this in Rom 2:28-29. Take note that in both verses he is talking about believing and unbelieving Jews, not about the church replacing Israel. Gentiles need not become Israel to be saved. What we need is the grace of God through the cross, accessed through faith.
Romans 3:30
"Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision (Jews) by faith, and uncircumcision (Gentiles) through faith.
@eschatologyguy An "unbelieving Jew" is still a Jew. Rev 2:9 and 3:9 concerns itself with people who claim to be Jews but aren't. Big difference. Take two Russians. One believes in Christ and the other doesn't. Both are still Russians.
@xX2AFanXx From what I've read, unbelieving Jews are what are the opposite of the "Israel of God" and opposite of "spiritual Israel." Those who claim to be Jews but aren't are those who are outwardly Jews. At any rate, what is the big fuss about this? The only reason I see why pastors would emphasize this in their teaching is because they believe the promises and the covenants have been transferred to them. We would only need the promises if salvation was still future. But Paul tells us in Ephesians that we already possess these things right now. We already have the earnest in 2Cor 1:22.
