This poll is for Christians who believe that there will be a literal kingdom of Christ here on earth, and that this thousand-year earthly kingdom will be preceded by a seven year Tribulation period also known as the 70th week of Daniel. Please click to vote in this theoretical poll. Nobody will know your identity. Unless you say where you voted in the comments section.

OK, here it is: If you were allowed by God to know in no uncertain terms that the seven-year Tribulation period would start in, say, a decade from now, would you still proceed with constructing the house you planned to make, or finishing that commercial building that you've started constructing? Or, if you're a pastor, finish that half-constructed church building in your church property? Or would this knowledge alter your plans and priorities?

There is no wrong or right answer here.

Howdy @eschatologyguy,

I remember an apropos quote from Martin Luther. "Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree."

Then it would be no. 1 or 2 for you. But it's not the world going to pieces but nearly going to pieces (Matt 24:22). With a clean-up period after the 70th week, too (Ezek 39:11-16). But Martin Luther did say "if." So there 😊

That is not a Christian offering this poll. Again this is agenda setting, trying to discredit Christianity.

Christians trust in God for their very delivery from every evil, making every question in the poll irrelevant.

It's not about "trusting God for their delivery from every evil" as you say, but what do you do with the time remaining. Amillennialists would not be able to relate to this.

@eschatologyguy You addressed it to Christians, the truly faithful of whom will say “EVEN IF…”. Those of little or no faith will say “WHAT IF???

@TimTuolomne Maybe you should read the premise of the poll again. I'm sure you are aware of the many "flavors" of eschatological views there are in the Church today. Amillennialism was a concept introduced into the church by Origen with his penchant for "spiritualization" or allegorization of prophetic passages and teaching it to those studying to be in the ministry in the earliest known bible school in Alexandria, Egypt. His views were picked up by Augustin (Gnostic-turned-bishop of Hippo in Egypt), and it has gone down church history to today. But if you go back a few generations to the time of Polycarp, Irenaeous, etc., they were not teaching allegorization. Many in the modern day church are missing out on a lot of what the bible is telling us because of Origen's teachings.

Background on Irenaeous

[theopedia.com]

By the way, Irenaeous was a disciple of Polycarp (both guys were from Smyrna), who in turn was a disciple of John, the writer of the book of Revelation.

@eschatologyguy We don't share the same opinion.

@TimTuolomne it's not just opinion. It's history. You can research it if you like.

@eschatologyguy I said opinion, not history.

@TimTuolomne I thought you were referring to the "spiritualization" or allegorization of scripture as taught by Origen and, later, by Augustin.
