Matthew 24:24-25 “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before.”
If an angel of light, or a performer of miracles, appears before us, how are we instructed to discern the truth?
Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.”
One sent from God will in no wise contradict any of the Ten Commandments or the testimony of Jesus.
Matthew 5:17-19 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Romans 6 in its entirety, esp vss 15 and 16, have spawned enumerable debates. And you can probably see why. Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote this. The Lord Himself appeared to Paul and gave him instruction through Visions. So this should not be an either/or proposition. They are both scripture. But how are they reconciled? Is it contextual, like who the audience were in both? Is it as to when in the timeline they were given? Because the conditions of Matt 15:22-28 no longer held true by the time Paul was called to become the Apostle to the Gentiles.

Indeed, there has been much discussion of our duty to God and the law. And, we are not the first to struggle with these ideas. Solomon put it beautifully:
Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books [there is] no end; and much study [is] a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.”
Jesus confirms the words of the wise man, in his admonition to the woman caught in adultery:
John 8:10-11 “When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid."
