Most theologians and preachers see Hosea 6:1-3 as a prophecy for the 3-day burial of Messiah after His crucifixion. Not me. I see it as the counterpart of Daniel 9:25 (relative to the First Advent) to an event in the second advent: the Great Reconcilliation of Israel with her Messiah. Breaking the 3 days into a two and a one for the burial doesn't make sense to me. And if every dot and every tittle in scripture is important, then this passage holds profound prophetic meaning which hasn't happened yet. And the passage itself, divided rightly, is saying it soon will be. It is cryptically informing Israel of the date of her reconciliation to God two "days" after the "smiting," or two "days" after the 2nd temple came crashing down on August 6, 70AD. From "My Father's house" to "Your house is left to you desolate." Two "days" after that smiting event.
And what of the 3rd "day" in Hosea 6:2? Like what happens after a thousand year period? I guess you'll have to figure that one out for yourself.
