I can't figure integration out. I can understand differing views when I try, but I can't figure out how to see the world from vantages other than my own. Still, on some level, in trying to understand more about differing views I think my own vantage moves...even if I'm stuck with my previous conclusions. I see history as that which caused the present, but I don't really see the present as shaping the future so much as contributing to the past that will shape the next present. I can't make the future, but I can do today what will make the history that does. I don't see the world as what might be, but instead see the present as the opportunity to build on the past that becomes what will be. The idea of tearing down or reinterpreting history is one I can't integrate. The past defines what we are. Living up to the accomplishments of those who made us contributes to the past that formulates tomorrow.

How much does TV/Movies affect your opinions? [dailywire.com]
govols comments on Jul 1, 2019:
I think we're all affected, and probably more than we realize or would like to believe. I know for a fact that I get reinforced in my negative views when I see obvious sjw efforts, over-representation of minority groups, poor representations of fathers, etc. Basically, movies and TV have moved me from disinterested, through disapproving, toward loathing for a lot of social and political ideas. Where my father mellowed in his years toward my own previous outlook, I'm growing ever closer to actually being the sorts of "-ists" that he or I never really was at heart. I've spent decades learning to experience my emotions and biases from as far from my behavior as possible, and now I'm glad for my progress. I can manage rage, disgust, and even something close to hatred without it prompting external reaction. A friend used to laugh at one of my cracks and tell me I'd say anything. I used to answer, "you should hear what I don't say." Anyway, yeah, we're all affected. Many of us in completely unintended and undesirable ways.

I've read enough on this topic that I'll pass on the article, but I'll toss out an idea as to why: The more you know, the less rational a traditional framework seems, and the more ridiculous leftist theory proves to be. I crawled all into the privilege/power/oppression theory and find it lacking reason, research and evidence; it isn't "theory," it's "theology." Traditionalism shares much of that, and needs always to face inquiry, but at least it has proven to mostly function as a way to stave off the abject horror of existence most humans endured throughout the pre-modern ages, the lunacy we enjoy today in the post-modern age, and even mostly mitigated the difficulties of a human condition not at all yet adapted to difficulties of modernity.

Peter Boghossian, James Lindsay, Helen Pluckrose got some fake papers published in academic journals. Title and abstract of one such paper: Going in Through the Back Door: Challenging Straight Male Homohysteria, Transhysteria, and Transphobia Through Receptive Penetrative Sex Toy Use Abstract To date, very little research literature exists concerning receptive penetrative anal eroticism in straight men. Of particular interest are its impacts upon other factors relevant to masculinities, sex roles, and the study of sexualities. Several co-consti- tuted features of masculinity are likely to be relevant to straight-male anal sexuality, including masturbatory play with penetrative sex toys. Specifcally, this study seeks to explore, “Do men who report greater comfort with receptive penetrative anal eroticism also report less transphobia, less obedience to masculine gender norms, greater partner sensitivity, and greater awareness about rape?” This study uses semi- structured interviews with thirteen men to explore this question, analyzed with a naturalist and constructivist grounded theory approach in the context of sexualities research and introduces transhysteria as a parallel concept to Anderson’s homohyste- ria. This analysis recognizes potential socially remedial value for encouraging male anal eroticism with sex toys. A decent respect for the efforts of the ditch digger, the septic pumper, the lettuce picker, the cooks and the wait staff... I make x/hr. I don't want to rent a pump truck, dig up the pump port, and spend two weekends trying to fix the fact that there is shit in my bathtub. Why do I begrudge the septic pumper his x or 2x wage if he has my shit rolling downhill in a few hours time while I sip beer and watch. I decide this day I don't want to cook and then clean up at home. I bitch that it takes an hour or two of my own pay to pay for a meal? Why? It ain't about tax rates. It's about having a decent regard for your neighbors and making sure that decent local jobs are available to work up to for those who work hard at the shitty ones that always remain local. That means maintaining an economy of locally made things and well paid services for those who aren't quite up to the tasks required by the economy of ideas and information.

govols comments on Jun 24, 2019:
A few things come to mind: The need to publish something new in an industry established to create doctrine and citation/reference it into "knowledge" requires each grad student in grievance studies to invent or expand on bullshit. Tens of thousands of new papers are published each year in the attempt to make the grievance narrative "normative." The more linguistic bullshit that can be invented and implemented to describe socially accepted norms, the more easily "normal" can be expressed in babble-garble language that allows "Allies" to signal to the multi-cult tribe that they are a part of the multi-cult in spirit if not through any thus far approved victim status. Being fluent in the language of the multi-cult allows one to participate in it's signaling rituals, and helps isolate the worshipers from outside ridicule by causing non-believers to self-identify by using phrasing not ordained through use in the sacred texts. The priesthood of the multi-cult, and their acolytes, use the high holy dialect to shroud the multi-cult in a sort of mysticism that calls to the gaping hole in the souls of the multi-cult laity. Sermons delivered in the language of the sacred texts during prayer services stimulate in the laity the passion to participate in the call and response chants practiced at such worship rituals as Women's March, Pride Fest, or OrangeManBad gatherings.

All of the most modern methods of critical interpretation would be deployed to try to sort the history from the lore, facts from traditions, truth from moral and cultural instruction. Whole departments would be built aimed at deconstructing and sorting the text, each chunk of new information directed toward literature, philosophy, history, sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc. Well, maybe.

Speak of the Devil: How Demonizing "Whiteness" Spreads White Nationalism | Bret Weinstein - YouTube
govols comments on Jun 17, 2019:
There's something like depth that's missing from both the ideas underlying intersectionality, and the understanding that most people have of those ideas. The understanding that a lot of us have is the whole Oppression Olympics thing that's so easily mocked. I'm not sure many people know the story of where the notion came from. The basic cause that prompted the concept was a lawsuit regarding workplace discrimination. A black woman sued GM? Ford? because she wasn't hired. The ruling was that no discrimination occurred because the company employed blacks, and the company employed women. The take away, given the notion that the company was obviously guilty of some sort of oppression, was that a new way of describing the oppression was required. The company was willing to enslave women into one sort of job, and blacks into another sort of job, but was then yet unwilling to enslave black women specifically because they suffered from a special sort of special. Black women are especially oppressed by not just the patriarchy, and not just by systemic racism, but by a combination of both as a result of their lived experience of being both women and black. The special form of oppressive victimization they experience from society arises at the "intersection" of womanhood and blackness. The entire theory is an attempt to innovate a legal tactic. The strategy is to use novel interpretation with and against the existing legal structure in order to re-imagine the meanings of law and order themselves. White men aren't the targets of the theory; the status quo of the rule of law is the target. That sometimes white men become the victims is but a happy coincident. The underlying idea is that the entire legal system is a product of those with power in previous generations handed down a system that inherently designed to keep in power their own posterity--at the expense of everyone "not them." The framework of intersectionality isn't the idea of overlapping forms of privilege and victimization, but instead that law and order is a product--and the form--of oppression. The Critical Legal Theory from which intersectionality derives is that tactics must be innovated to serve the strategy of reinventing jurisprudence itself. Very much like it matters less who is allowed to vote than it does who counts the votes, it matters less who makes the laws than it does who interprets and fabricates the language used during adjudication.

One of my big objections right now is the entirety of the left "power/oppression" and "zero sum" view of the world. If the world is as they view it then they are, by definition, attempting to take over the use of power in order to impose a new distribution system upon the previously privileged. Given their continuous insistence that the power to present has been privileged toward the hetero-normative cis-gendered white male ruling class for which all whites are assigned some level of blame, they've actually, for real, without question, declared war on the straight white male and all of his kin. It's all right there in their own damned "Theory."

govols comments on Jun 10, 2019:
Faith. I think it was Aristotle who said all human actions are aimed at "some good," but also pointed out that a great deal of practice is required to either apprehend the nature of the actual good and its component parts, or to act toward it consistently and intentionally. A really bright person with incredible moral and ethical insight, vast reserves of self-discipline, might manage on his own to earn the positive judgment of God. The rest of us need faith in the grace that God might lend us if we can but manage to seek his will and follow it as best we can discern it. We're too flawed to perform in the world as though in the image of God. Still, even non-believers, given faith at least in the idea of moral good, can seek the strength to follow it toward good actions, practice at least NOT DOING wrong. Even the determinists among us, through faith in free-won't, can practice some free will no matter the chemical biological demands of out behavioral response to stimulus.

Depends on the sort of information you're after. Google is good if you go to multiple sites. The key is YOU being open minded and looking for truth. Sometimes it hurts.
Is this real, American folks? Sounds crazy.
govols comments on Jun 5, 2019:
Yes, it's real. It isn't about a nutter judge here or there, but about the fact that all of the precedence is in place such that every court that rules according to current established law would apply the additional phrasing as it was applied to previous rulings to prior phrasing.
I finally get it!!! The Leftists call anything and anyone who supports their nation over another as ...

The single issue of current times is globalism. It isn't left/right. The global left and global right frown on any ideas that tend toward local, national, regional, sectional...non-global thinking or attitudes. There is a collection of monists across the left/right spectrum that seeks to globalize solutions to to the human condition. Some want global merchantilism, others global governmental structures, others global environmental policies... The common thread is a certain "one world/one human condition and experience" sort of belief structure. Well, that and empire sorts of thinking.

govols comments on May 31, 2019:
One of the biggest points he's trying to make is the need to prioritize the value of citizenship and to weight that value against the need to increase the value of shareholder ownership. His view, it seems to me, is that the purpose and nature of a functional NATION is to worry as much (or more) about the value to the shareholders--stake-holders--of the nation itself, as is worried over the value of global corporations. Nationalism is about sustainability. A nation has to be able to provide great opportunity to three sections of people within it. No matter the status of an endeavor's value to human achievement, the very fucking good, the adequate, and the "you suck at that but try this" categories have to all be aimed toward a common greater good of general prosperity at every level of both ability and achievement. The scientist might look a bit down at the engineer, who might look down a bit at the technician; everyone looks up to the septic tank pumper when the toilets back up into the bathtubs and sinks.

Hillary is waiting in the wings .

I have no doubt she is currently running. She may never announce, but she is actively seeking the nomination.
