What do you think will be the result of last week's mass apologies and genuflecting to Black Lives Matter protesters?
First, I want to be clear that this question is meant to be independent of the actual merits of the BLM (and allies) protests. There are so many issues around how to improve the situation of black citizens relative to other racial groups to fill a month's worth of questions... so today, we are focusing on the politics and optics of public apologies and genuflecting to protesters. Was it an effective way of showing solidarity or a dangerous sign of things to come? What do you expect when you apologize to others?

Demoralizing identity groups is no issue for woke-progs, because they thrive on stoking outrage. The more they train all of us to defend identity, rather then humanity, the bigger they win.
Governments, academia, business, and sports-entertainment-culture sectors are racing to abandon the meritocracy and embrace tokenism and quota systems. Since “systemic racism” is indefinable, they falsely see quotas as they solution. Of course, in the 21st century, the obsolete and much hated term “tokenism” now goes by the shiny new title of “diversity and equity.”

For Americans, genuflecting to ANYONE for any reason, other than courtesy and etiquette of protocol, is just a clear sign that they don't know enough about who and what they themselves are to have any business apologizing for anybody or anything other than their own willful, self-indulgent ignorance. It is a sad pitiful thing to see people surrender their last shred of dignity before such ignorant hatred. Ignorance surrendering to ignorance. They can tell me, as has happened before, that it's a black thing and that I wouldn't understand and that may be true, and inasmuch as the violence and hurled insults only serve to highlight their lack of empowerment as a grievance, the pretending to power in their demands for ridiculous obeisance does nothing to help me understand.

On a person-to-person level, I will apologize for 2 reasons:
- Because I have done something wrong
- Because I have inadvertently hurt someone's feelings (whether or not I did something "wrong" )
In the case of #1, I try to own my mistakes by specifically stating what I've done wrong. I also try to offer what I can do better next time or I ask what I can do better next time.
In the case of #2, I will say "I'm sorry xyz hurt your feelings," offer a reassurance (such as "I like you and don't intend to disrespect you" ), and then explain why I did what I did. Depending on the situation, I'll also offer what I think I can do better next time or I'll ask what I can do better next time.
In my mind, an apology is useless unless it includes an honest acknowledgment of what went wrong and some form of plan to improve it later.

I'm curious what the result will be around here. Did you increase your efforts to cultivate a fan community around Paul Ramsey, a white supremacist, after the protests began, perhaps in an effort to capitalize on or even stir up white racist backlash? If not, have the protests and the recent growth in his community led you to question creating that community in the first place?

@Admin The way the algorithms work now, all videos discussing current events are being demonetized. But you chose to promote a white supremacist.
Admin does not create all the groups... users do.
There is even a LGBT group here.
You are welcome to create a pro socialist/communist / DSA group here. We will all participate if you want.

You may also have noticed that the vast majority of posters here are not racist and definitely not white supremacists. The few that did come here generally does not get much response.
You do sound disappointed that the BLM riots did not start a counter KKK protest... maybe your fellow Americans are not as racist as you would want to believe.

@Hanno From observing how the different fan spaces are launched here (the ones where the actual celebrity is also a member), I suspect that admin did more than simply allow Paul Ramsey to create a group like any other user. And while "the vast majority of posters here are ... not white supremacists" may have been generally true a few weeks ago, there has been a recent bump in white supremacist posts from new users that is correlated with increased activity in Ramsey's group.

The increase in posts you refer to is expected considering the attack some whites may feel they are under.

I have no idea who Paul Ramsey is, tbh. What has he said that makes you believe he is a white supremacist?
Sadly we live in an age where anyone who disagrees with the majority is automatically labeled a white supremacist, nazi, transphobe, homophobe, or misogynist--even if you are black, gay, a woman, or trans. So I need actual words versus someone's impression of what they feel the person meant by what they said.
If you are going to accuse someone it is only honorable to back up the assertion with evidence.
Not sure who you are, or why you decided to slander me, but I am in no way a ‘White Supremacist.’ I believe that all people have the right to life and self-determination no matter their ethnic background.
