Question for people on the left: This has been on my mind for a while but it is even more so after what I'm seeing right now. I posted on Twitter that I wish people will learn from RBG and Scalia and be able to have friendships and conversations with people they disagree with. I was expecting some backlash (it is Twitter after all) but it seems that everyone who replied to me missed the point I was trying to make. I think I even got my first death threat today, so that's really fun. My question is (and I mean this in the nicest way possible, I know the right is going to have to figure out who they are post Trump and they have their own issues to deal with) when do you think the left will become liberal again, if the old school Democrats can make a comeback at all? What will it take? Do you think a new party will have to be formed? I don't want to sound like a jerk with this question but I really want to know. I am really just craving discussion so we can try to solve some problems in the country and our communities. Thank you and I hope you all have a great weekend.
I thought the friendship between RBG and Scalia was super cute, even if I disagreed with Scalia's views. A related topic was discussed The Social Dilemma (documentary, it's on Netflix). Where both sides are getting more extreme and further apart. It makes me sad.
Most of my friends and family on the Left are rational people that are NOT on board with much of what is happening in our society today - we can and do have good discussions and are often >< close in our approaches.
It is the media, primarily, with a big boost from politicians, that is driving the widening divides. Hamstring them (Trump is doing it a lot on the political side) and we can get back to something approaching "normalcy".
Not only American’s leftists, I live in Thailand and I can guarantee you that our local leftists are absolutely lost their minds. They are too radical now. They want communism revolution and cancel culture. This is not the origin of liberalism. They pushed many people away including me. I was a liberal, but no more. I’m done.
Henrietta? Small world. That's my home country, other end. What I see now is that most people are not FOR something or someone - they are more AGAINST, so they vilify and demean the "other". Scalia and RBG were brilliant (Scalia spoke to one of my classes when he was on the ... First Circuit, I think it was). I find that there are a lot of people who are intimidated by and cannot handle the truly brilliant.
I think they are eating themselves. So they will lose more and more people until there are so few left it will cave in on itself.
Well, I consider myself a liberal/democrat and I have always been interested in discussion. I can't speak for or predict other people. Your guess is as good as mine regarding them.
I think you are closer to classical liberal than you think!

Posted by fthemediaIs is horrible and sad that we live in a day and age where mental disorders are trendy and being a majority is demonized by the far left.
