@FrankZeleniuk oh geez it's so crazy that I am bothered by blatant nepotism and corruption in the highest office of the land. Trump did not take the pandemic seriously. That is the most ludicrous statement I've seen. Sure, in *private* he admitted it was serious and deadly, but then in public he said it was nothing to worry about and would be gone in no time. He kept people stuck on a boat because he didn't want the case numbers to rise and make him look bad - same with expanding testing. He recommended injecting bleach and sunlight (yes, he really did, don't play it off as a joke). He told people they didn't need masks. He encouraged people to pack into stadiums for his rallies, which killed Herman Cain. He made fun of Joe Biden for his COVID precautions. He slandered nurses by accusing them of stealing masks. It came out he and his SOL (given a government position in spite of intelligence officials saying he shouldn't be given clearance) were fine with preventing PPE and relief to Blue States and letting them die. He and his SOL also received millions in PPP relief for their companies, despite an overwhelming majority of those companies reporting that they didn't use it to keep any jobs, or they eventually closed - so Trump and Kushner basically pocketed the money. After calling for Obama's resignation due to one case of Ebola in 2014, Trump then said he took absolutely no responsibility for COVID in any way, and spent a good amount of time either campaigning or golfing rather than dealing with the pandemic. Trump repeatedly mocked the health experts and said he knew science more than them. The vaccine barely had anything to do with him. Moderna had the vaccine developed before Trump ever though of Operation Warp Speed, he only helped remove testing bottlenecks. Pfizer was developed without any US aid whatsoever. Let's not forget that Pfizer offered the Trump admin millions of doses of the vaccine, and Trump declined. The travel "ban" wasn't actually a ban. First, COVID was already here, so it's not like Trump prevented it from spreading. Second, US citizens and their families could still travel - as if COVID was only targeting non-US citizens. Imports were not banned either, nor were the pilots and boat captains bringing them. And Trump did not make some bold decision to save the country despite the Democrats - he literally followed the recommendations of the HHS. Pelosi and others weren't telling people to travel and spread the virus - they were quite literally combating the rampant racism that Trump was spreading against Asian-Americans, telling people not to be afraid of Asian Americans. Also you are engaging in nothing but baseless conspiracy claiming Biden is not in control of anything and is some puppet. Could you not accuse Trump of the...

Well so far he hasn't installed any of his family members into government positions, forcing through security clearance despite failed background checks. He has nominated actual scientists and other experts into cabinet positions, instead of corporate cronies, lobbyists, and loyalists who had no idea what they were doing (Carson to HUD? Perry to Energy?). He isn't directly profiting from the office through forcing security details to stay at his hotels and overcharging them, getting foreign nationals to stay at his properties, forcing through Chinese patents for his daughter's sweatshop clothing, etc. He's ended terrible policies like banning trans soldiers in the military. He actually takes the pandemic seriously and isn't calling it a hoax or downplaying it, and actually has a vaccination strategy. He doesn't Tweet random nonsense at 3am or call into Fox News or Newsmax to rant and insult and bully his detractors. So far he hasn't played a single game of golf while in office. Now, this isn't to say he is without criticism. I think the border crisis, specifically the continued "children in cages" situation, is a terrible atrocity which should be ended immediately - but it isn't like Trump was any better. I also think it is beyond ridiculous that the Biden administration fired staffers for marijuana use. But all that said, he is still way better than Trump, no question.

@FrankZeleniuk @wolfhnd Stalin was an Atheist, sure. Mao Zedong and Pol Pot were Buddhists. Mussolini was a bit of an Atheist and had strong anti-Catholic sentiments, but he still partnered with the Church which granted The Vatican its national sovereignty and got Pope Pius XII to turn a blind eye to the Holocaust. Hitler was most certainly a Christian. Trying to dismiss the Christianity of Nazis is intellectually disingenuous. Sure, they had a fascination with the occult and thought that the Shroud of Turin would give them a supernatural edge, but that was all due to Christian mythology and adherence. Hitler wrote about his worship of Jesus, and his belief that he was doing God's work, even if he didn't like organized religion and the power they held. When we discuss issues like this, we cannot just say "person X was religion Y, therefore Y is to blame". For example, Atheism is literally nothing more than lacking a belief in any gods - it tells you nothing else about a person's ideologies or viewpoints. There are plenty of Atheists on this website with wildly different beliefs and political allegiances. Similarly, even though Christians have a more common viewpoint with one another, you can still have vastly different ideologies - Catholic, Protestant, LDS, Jehovahs Witness, Literalists, Liberals, Conservatives, etc. Although unique to actual religion, you have different in-groups claiming the others are not "true" versions . However, I am not blaming Christianity for Nazism or the Holocaust. Just as I do not blame Buddhism for any atrocities or Atheism for any atrocities. Some people do evil things. Some people do evil things not believing there will be any consequences. Some people do evil things believing there will be consequences, yet do it anyway. Some people do evil things believing the will be rewarded.

Yes, it is a joke. But I will address this. "Jesus made a conscious choice to sacrifice himself for the good of others." But did he? Captain America did jump on that grenade to save the lives of his squadmates... but what if he was the one who threw the grenade? Is it as noble then? Do we applaud when an arsonist turns out to be a firefighter, starting fires so they can put it out and seem like a hero? Going with the holy trinity / triune god belief, Jesus is God. And didn't God deem mankind to be wicked and in need of saving? So he sacrificed himself to save man from a punishment he arbitrarily cast on us? And did Jesus actually sacrifice himself if he knew he'd be resurrected? He gave up a weekend, what is so special about that? I have given up multiple weekends to work at soup kitchens or build houses with HFH - am I more selfless than Jesus? And even more, Jesus "sacrificing" himself didn't save mankind from original sin, now did it? You still need to be baptized and reborn and declare Jesus is lord to be saved, isn't that true? So Jesus gave up a weekend knowing he'd come back and become his father and be worshiped? Sounds like a good deal.

Those facts don't change because of any sex scandals or misdeeds. Just as you could call out Gaetz's strong Conservative convictions or DesJarlais's strong pro-life stance despite any sex scandals and misdeeds they committed. The point I was making was that despite the importance to the Progressive cause, no matter how much of a strong ally a member of "the Left" was, they were still forced to go away, no matter how severe the scandal. Hell, Democrat Katie Hill had to step down for having a consensual relationship with a staffer, especially when a Conservative website leaked nude photos of her. Compare that to members of "the Right" who can somehow get away with anything "for the cause". Donald Trump was everything the Republican base hated - a New York elite, a serial philander, accused of rape and pedophilia, cheated on his wife with a porn star after she just gave birth and paid hush money to keep it from coming out during his campaign... yet he became the fact of the Republican party. Hell, unless a Republican comes out as gay or an Atheist they usually get to stick around. At least you finally admit you have a narrative.

"You don't have an issue with it, till you can politically exploit it." So yeah, you made a narrative that the Left / Democrats, and me individually, ignore any kind of sex scandal from our "side" while only calling out issues on the other "side". And I did indeed destroy your narrative, by showing how it is your "side" which is hypocritical, as the Left constantly needs to disappear for the slightest misstep, but the Right gets to stay in power no matter what they do. You are only defending Gaetz, and for some reason bringing up Hunter Biden, because it is politically expedient for you.

@Tom81 who is ignoring sex scandals from the Left? If I recall, Anthony Weiner, a firm defender of civil rights, was forced to go away for a sex scandal. Eliot Spitzer, a Democratic governor, was forced to go away for a sex scandal. John Edwards, a contender in the presidential races, was forced to go away because he cheated on his wife with cancer. Al Franken was forced to go away for crude jokes. Now let's see... if I remember, Newt Gingrich never had to go away for cheating on his wife with cancer? Even served her divorced papers on her death bed. Scott DesJarlais admitted to cheating on his wife, sleeping with his patients as a doctor, and forcing his mistresses to get abortions despite being staunchly pro-life... he wasn't forced to go away, and was even re-elected after this all came to light. Roy Moore wasn't forced to go away after it was revealed he was a pedophile - even Trump supported him. Jim Jordan is a popular senator and one of the biggest Trump supporters - for years he covered up sexual abuse at OSU while acting as the assistant wrestling coach, yet he wasn't forced to go away. And then of course there is the big one - Donald Trump - who won the presidency and is still the face of the Republican party, despite all of the sexual abuse and pedophilia accusations against him, serial adultery, paying hush money to a porn star... the list goes on. So I guess it is actually convenient to ignore the sex scandals from your side, eh? It's been the reality for decades that Democrats have to "go away" when they make inappropriate jokes or have affairs, but the Republicans - the party of "righteous moral family values" - get to stick around after they are shown to be nothing but hypocrites who don't believe what they are selling. You sit here and cry about Hunter Biden, who isn't an elected representative and has no role in government, but staunchly defend Donald Trump and his children, who do have roles in government. It's quite laughable.

It's funny how all these people are freaking out now. They freaked out when he came out as gay, and now they are freaking out over this music video and these shoes. Lil Nas X doesn't owe anybody anything. Who cares if kids like him? Does that mean he must forever cater to children? He can't grow? He has no say in his own art and image? This is just like Britney and Christina before, and Miley more recently - no wonder they went to the extreme to break away from their kiddie image. People grow up, people change their image. It's not their job to raise your kids. The shoes actually seem cool, haha. If I was a shoe person I'd buy them, but I can never understand $1k for shoes. Imagine if someone came out with Jesus shoes, no one would care. Satanic Panic is alive and well.

@wolfhnd are you daft? Aposematism is to scare away potential predators, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with where on the food chain a species is. Snakes can be predators to some species but still rely on aposematism to prevent attacks against themselves by other species. So I will say it again. Using aposematism, if you are affected then that means you are a predator and it works.

JacksonNought replies on Mar 27, 2021:
@wolfhnd you realize having bright colors or noise-makers or other mechanisms to advertise "I am dangerous" would be a real shitty way to hunt for prey? These animals are not top of the food chain. There are plenty of birds and rodents and other animals which eat snakes. Aposematism is literally "the advertising by an animal to potential predators that it is not worth attacking or eating". The point is that it warns their predators to stay away. So my point still stands.

@Beachslim yes, no one is owed anything. That is why the state I live in, which this worker also lives in (PA), is an "at-will" state. It means that you can be fired at any time with no reason given, with no recourse by the employee. If the managers just reduced her hours and then fired her without saying anything, this wouldn't be an issue. But the managers made it very clear they were discriminating against her religion, and even harassed her multiple times about it, which puts it into CRA territory, and now she can sue. I didn't cherry-pick anything, and I have no narrative. I saw the article and I posted it, simple as that. This happened, it's a fact. I don't understand your random "communist" insult? Are you one of those lunatics who doesn't actually know what that word means, and throws it out as a term for anything to the left of slavery and theocracy? Again, you seem all fine with this, and are throwing out notions of private company rights and freedom of association and all that jazz - but clearly that is because you are fine with a Pagan being fired because you agree with the Christian managers. You say media would be completely silent if the tables were turned, but you know that is a bold-faced lie. Christians are the most sensitive wannabe victims I've ever seen in the US. We're talking about talking heads who cry because a Starbucks cup isn't Christmasy enough for them, or because a black man dresses up as Santa. Based on your arguments, you seem like you are also on the side of the people who also cry because they were kicked off of Twitter, complaining about "cancel culture" and demanding you be allowed a platform. Nothing but pure hypocrisy.

@Beachslim yeah but religion is a protected class in the Civil Rights Act, meaning you cannot fire someone because you don't like their religion. You can also tell because he is injecting himself into American politics while never having lived in America, and he only has 10 posts to his name. Regardless, the bias of CNN has nothing to do with the FACTS (which you claim to follow) that Powell is indeed using this as a defense. Here's Business Insider (https://www.businessinsider.com/sidney-powell-dominion-defamation-lawsuit-take-seriously-2021-3) and Forbes (https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlieporterfield/2021/03/22/sidney-powell-argues-her-dominion-defamation-lawsuit-should-be-dropped-because-no-reasonable-person-would-believe-her/?sh=7880a2c61dad) reporting the same. @Alysandir > So, you're saying it's been removed from general consumption, with content filters slapped on it that no one demanded, requiring parents to now decide whether they want their children to see that content? That is not "removed from general consumption" in any way. Are alcohol and cigarettes "removed from general consumption" because kids can't buy them? On these streaming apps there is a child profile for content that is curated for children and parents don't have to worry about their kid seeing something they don't want. What is the harm in that? Why do you take issue with parents having more control over what their children can see? In the late 90's there was an episode of Pokemon featuring the character Porygon. Due to some heavy strobing in the episode, it causes seizures in some children watching, and the episode was pulled from air. So, should this episode be in the general children's profile, allowing any kid to come across it? Or should parents be allowed to choose if their child can watch it, making sure it won't cause any danger? A lot of Conservatives are upset with the "progressive messaging" in a lot of cartoons these days, such as environmentalism in The Lorax. Tucker Carlson and Lou Dobbs spent plenty of airtime ranting about the indoctrination of The Lorax. So, should Conservative parents not be allowed to choose if their child can be subjected to it? Other children's cartoons have been accused by people (a lot of Conservatives and Christians) of promoting "deviant" subjects, like Satanism or cross-dressing. Powerpuff Girls has a cross-dressing devil character. Jimmy Two-Shoes takes place in Hell. Fantasia contains a Satanic ritual. Should parents not have control over their child coming across these shows? As I said to Spike above, Sixteen Candles is rated PG and can be consumed by younger children... yet it has full on nudity, smoking and drinking, and profanity. Of course MPAA ratings were laxer when the movie came out, and it would most likely be rated R today. If aired on general TV today, the profanity and nudity would be removed. Does that make it "removed from general consumption"? > Pepe is just not in the new Space Jam. That sure sounds like removed, doesn't it? There is a difference between choosing not to include a random character in a new movie, and going back and pulling all previous content. It's similar to what happened with Gina Carano - Disney decided not to renew her contract or give her a spinoff show, and the Conservative outrage mob says she has been viciously canceled. Why are you so invested in whether one cartoon is included in a movie or not? The people who freak out over Pepe not being in a movie are the same ones who also see a female protagonist or a character who happens to be gay / ...

No one is being told they can't watch these cartoons. Pepe is just not in the new Space Jam. Big whoop, so they didn't include one character. There was never an outcry over Lola's boobs causing people to be offended and requiring a redesign of her character. Rather, an image of her from the new movie came out, and people got offended that she didn't look "sexy" or "curvaceous" enough anymore. It was the Conservatives seemingly being reactionary, not the Progressives. Also, what is wrong with being a sex worker?
"Women who support Cardi B use Febreze as a feminine hygiene product.

Sounds like someone, much like Ben Shapiro, has never made a woman "wet" before...

@gregoryelliott your new focus against Cardi B, assumedly because of WAP and the recent Candace "Hitler Was Right" Owens criticisms against the "destruction of American society" due to the song, and your focus on feminine hygiene as a result, leads me to think that you - much like Ben Shapiro has admitted - have never aroused a woman to the point that she became "wet".

What no one is talking about in the Atlanta shootings is that most of the women in the Atlanta shootings were victims of sex trafficking before they also became victims of murder. Too many human beings are being bought and sold as property to satiate the demand for sexual gratification. Even ...

@RonTillerson a man murdered 8 people. Why does it matter if they were sex workers, voluntary or otherwise? The blame rests on the man, and the man alone. Whether it was racial or incel motivations, it is still his fault.

Should there be legal restrictions on trans athletes competing in schools?

I would probably say no in all cases, but for reasons that wouldn't fly in today's Overton window. I think it's unfair to teach boys of their advantages when they, on average, lag girls developmentally early on. Then teach them their aggressiveness harms girls. Then tell them to compete with girls ...

@govols so watching trans women and women compete wouldn't be exciting and give good drama? @FrankZeleniuk yes I am sure she is stronger than me.

@govols > the weakest of males punch harder than the strongest of females What you are referring to is *one* study from the University of Utah which tested 20 men and 19 women, all of whom were supposed to be in the same general active range. This is hardly a scientific test indicative of the population at large. Try testing who punches harder between Ben Shapiro and Gina Carano. Look at Billie Jean King beating Bobby Riggs in tennis in the 70's. If we are talking about boxing, why don't we put all sports into classes based on ability, and get rid of gender segmentation? https://theconversation.com/why-it-might-be-time-to-eradicate-sex-segregation-in-sports-89305

JacksonNought replies on Mar 16, 2021:
@Styrax you can disagree, but I'm just telling you the facts. Atheist and Agnostic answer different questions - one is personal belief and the other is a knowledge claim. Do you believe in a god or gods? Yes - Theist. No - Atheist. Is there a god or gods? Yes / No - Gnostic. I don't know / it can't be proven - Agnostic. Most Atheists are Agnostic, most Theists are Gnostic. Any "hatred of religion" is a completely separate matter and has nothing to do with Atheism or Agnosticism.
