I guess you want to stay on lock down until.....? A cure? I mean what do you think is going to happen? Let's stay in for another 2-3 months, will the virus be gone? No. Will the economy be completely destoryed along with millions of lives? Yes.
WilyRickWiles replies on Apr 22, 2020:
I think through the end of May is reasonable and hopefully should be enough time to ramp up testing to where it needs to be, start contact tracing, and start serology tests. As far as the economy, the people funding these protests are the same people preventing government from doing what it needs to do to freeze the economy.

@Header Well it captures the real dynamic. It's not about personal freedoms. Rural America is going to do whatever it wants, regardless. They are upset at how New York's shutdown has hurt their own economy and they want New York to get back to work, casualties be damned.

@Jeeper752 Certainly the Democrats formed a consensus with Republicans a few decades ago in the form of the War on Crime, but in recent years they have shifted toward criminal justice reform. As a reminder, in the same characteristically incoherent speech, which followed weeks of minimizing the virus, Trump likened it to the flu and suggested that its spread had been halted at 15 cases and 0 deaths thanks to his efforts. In light of those numbers, he accused the media of being hysterical for claiming that tens to hundreds of thousands of people might die. Yes, I've done the math. Do you understand that there is no built-in immunity to COVID-19? Do you understand that the number of cases is grows exponentially? Do you understand how that many cases all at once exceeds our health care capacity and leads to many more deaths, including people without COVID-19?
